Day 2 (June 11)
Do you like eating crawfish? That’s a weird question to start the day, and there’s a pretty good chance that crawfish wasn’t even on your radar this morning. If you don’t like crawfish, that’s ok. You are still loved by God and by our team. The thing about crawfish is that although it can be truly enjoyable, it’s not really fulfilling. People don’t usually quit eating crawfish because they are just full as can be on crawfish. A lot of the time people quit eating crawfish because they are just tired of all the work it takes to eat crawfish…or their mouths are on fire because of all the spices. You can probably think of another food you like that is similar to crawfish in this way- - very enjoyable, but not fulfilling.
Parent, we want you to take an honest look at your life this morning. If you were being honest, would you say your life is a little like eating crawfish- enjoyable, but not fulfilling? We sure hope not, because the Lord promises us much, much more in a relationship with Him.
John 10:10- “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”
Jesus has come to bring us LIFE! It’s not a life free of problems, trials, and suffering; however, it is a life of purpose and fulfillment. Sometimes we can let the trouble and difficulties of this life cloud our perspective of what is really true. God loves you. God promises to always be with you, even in the tough times.
Isaiah 43:2-3- “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior…”
We will go through fire, and we will go through the water- - but we will not be burned or overtaken! God is all we need and He is more than enough! With the Lord, we can make it through even the darkest of times.
We talked last night about the Israelites when they were freed from slavery but found themselves wandering around in the wilderness. The Lord was providing for them, but they would complain about how life was better when they were slaves (Numbers 11). They were free but were wishing they could be back in slavery! You see how the enemy can twist our perspective? They were missing out on the goodness of what God was doing in their lives. We’re not talking about turning lemons to lemonade or some other motivational saying. We’re saying that with the Lord, you have all that you need. With the Lord, you have strength to endure and the opportunity to live life to the fullest. Our hope is that you don’t give in to a “crawfish” kind of life. We want you to feast at the table of the King and enjoy the fulfillment that is promised you.
