Day 4 (June 13)
What a week! We have had an amazing week at Kids Camp! We know that some of the kids at camp made decisions to accept Jesus into their lives and to begin a relationship with Him. Some of the kids came to camp already knowing Jesus but have definitely grown in their faith in incredible ways. Some of the kids came to camp not knowing a lot of people but are leaving camp with new friends that will hopefully last a lifetime. WE LOVE CAMP! It’s a long time of preparation, but we are always so thankful for what we get to be a part of each year at Kids Camp. We are also super grateful for the opportunity to pour into your life as a parent. Our desire is to come alongside you and support you as you parent your child in the ways of the Lord.
One of the responsibilities you have as a parent is to protect your child from danger. You do this in numerous ways, whether it’s teaching them to be aware of their surroundings or following them on Life 360. We like to think that we are in control of their lives. The truth is though, many time we have no control- - and that can scare us. We like to think that what we have planned is best. We like to think that our way is, or will be, the best way. The problem is-
Proverbs 14:12- “There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death.”
We are not in control of all things. God is. God is the one who causes the sun to rise and the sun to set. He keeps the earth spinning on its axis. That is the power and control that God has, and here’s the good part- He cares for you. You can lay your troubles and difficulties before the God who is in control because that all-powerful, all-knowing God cares for YOU!
1 Peter 5:7- “Give all your worries and cares to God, for He cares about you.”
Proverbs 3:5-6- “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.”
We hope that this week has been an encouragement to you. Our hope is that if you haven’t been spending time alone with the Lord on a regular basis, that these daily devotionals have been a help. You can continue this habit by getting a daily devotional from the heart of Pastor Kerry Shook by going to the following link: www.kerryshook.org/blog
Keep being the person and the parent that your child needs you to be and that God has called you to be. It matters, and you’re not in it alone! See you soon!
